What's The Average Cost Of A Date Now?

Tired of the apps, and now you're looking to give dating a real shot? Sure, hooking up is fun. But when you decide to make the plunge into a real dating experience, how much will it cost you now?

According to a Bank of Montreal survey, the cost of an average date has soared to $189. That’s a jump of 12.5% from last year’s total of $168, which means “date-flation” is outpacing the overall cost of living. Over the past year, Americans spent an average of $2,323 on dates. So swipe right?

Why is it so much to find someone? I get that everything is so expensive now, but when we don't make enough to live, how are we expected to find that special someone and not live in the poor house? Another question. Who picks up the tab so one side isn't taking the financial hit?

There’s still a gender divide over who should pay in a budding relationship. 71% of men expect to pay for everything on a date early in a romance, while 52% of women expect to split it.

Sometimes it's just a matter of how much you have, and what expectations are. But what happened to the cheap dates of Netflix and Chill? Wasn't this a lot easier?
